What are the ECHO Accords?

     The ECHO Accords came out of the feeling that our founders home echoed of the senseless violence perpetrated on his family by an overzealous Sheriff's Department.  The ECHO Accords are designed to address mental health issues through a multifaceted approach that includes art shows, musical events, multi-faith discussions, and collaboration with healthcare professionals, educational institutions and local law enforcement. All with the goal of pivoting away from policing mental health.

Instead, we intend to respond to such crises with kindness and care. With research showing that procedures of bringing all mental health crises to the ER is not only a drag on the ER staff but also a financial burden when the patients themselves.

It aims to foster community dialogue, advocate for improved non-aggressive policing tactics, and provide support for veterans and students facing mental health challenges. It is also a chance for the local communities to speak directly to their police forces showing the extensive damage of their militarized tactics.

Introducing the ECHO Response Team;

The Freeborn Initiative is working to revolutionize the way we assist Veterans in Crisis by providing them safe accommodations before and after any inpatient stay or any other times of personal turbulence. We also intend to stand up an independent mental health response team similar to the practices and procedures developed by the Austin Police Department. It is our hope that with the unified stance set forth in the ECHO Accords will help fight back against a silent and unseen veteran suicide epidemic which has claimed 162,000 lives since the attacks on September 11th, 2001.
